การอุบัติขึ้นขององค์สมเด็จพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าในโลก ถือเป็นมหาศุภนิมิตที่นำมาซึ่งแสงสว่างแห่งปัญญาในการหลุดพ้นจากกองทุกข์ ยิ่งเมื่อถึงศุภมงคลสมัยแห่งวันวิสาขบูชา วันสำคัญสากลของโลก ศรัทธาของพุทธบริษัทสี่จากทั่วมุมโลกจึงหลอมรวมเป็นหนึ่งเพื่อสืบทอดอายุพระพุทธศาสนา และน้อมนำพระธรรมคำสอนมาเป็นเข็มทิศชี้ทางรอดให้แก่มวลมนุษยชาติในยุคปัจจุบัน
เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 26 พฤษภาคม พุทธศักราช 2569 ณ เมืองอู๋ซี สาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน ได้ปรากฏภาพอันน่าเลื่อมใสยิ่งในศาสนมณฑลสากล เมื่อ พระพรหมบัณฑิต (ประยูร ธมฺมจิตฺโต) กรรมการมหาเถรสมาคม ในฐานะประธานสมาคมสภาสากลวันวิสาขบูชาโลก ได้เดินทางไปเสด็จและปฏิบัติศาสนกิจเป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดกิจกรรมงานวิสาขบูชานานาชาติ ครั้งที่ 21 ภายใต้หัวข้อหลักอันลึกซึ้งว่า “พุทธปัญญาในการส่งเสริมการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนในระดับโลกและการสร้างอนาคตร่วมกันของมวลมนุษยชาติ” โดยมี Most Venerable Yan Jue ประธานสมาคมพุทธศาสนาแห่งประเทศจีน พร้อมด้วยผู้แทนรัฐบาลจีน ประมุขสงฆ์ ผู้นำชาวพุทธ และนักวิชาการจากนานาประเทศเดินทางมาร่วมพิธีอย่างคับคั่งด้วยวัตรปฏิบัติอันสำรวมเรียบร้อย
พิธีการเริ่มต้นขึ้นอย่างเป็นสิริมงคลในเวลา 08.30 น. คณะพระภิกษุสงฆ์ผู้แทนจากทั้งฝ่ายเถรวาทและมหายานได้ร่วมกันประกอบพิธีเจริญพระพุทธมนต์เพื่อสันติภาพโลก เสียงสวดมนต์กระหึ่มก้องสร้างความสงบระงับให้แก่จิตใจของผู้ร่วมงาน ครั้นถึงเวลา 09.00 น. จึงเข้าสู่การเปิดงานอย่างเป็นทางการ โดยประธานสมาคมพุทธศาสนาแห่งประเทศจีนได้กล่าวถวายการต้อนรับและปฏิสันถารอย่างอบอุ่น ก่อนที่พระเดชพระคุณพระพรหมบัณฑิต จะได้กล่าวสุนทรพจน์เปิดงานและแสดงธรรมทัศนะอย่างเฉียบคม โน้มนำให้ที่ประชุมเห็นคุณค่าของปัญญาอันเกิดจากการฝึกฝนจิตใจตามหลักพระธรรมวินัย พร้อมกันนั้นทางเจ้าภาพได้จัดแสดงศิลปะวัฒนธรรมจีนอันวิจิตรตระการตาเพื่อสมโภชการจัดงาน
ในช่วงบ่ายของวันเดียวกัน มีการแสดงปาฐกถาพิเศษในหัวข้อหลักของการจัดงาน พร้อมทั้งเปิดเวทีเสวนาทางวิชาการ (Plenary Session) เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองในระดับนโยบาย ส่วนการดำเนินงานในวันที่ 27 พฤษภาคม พุทธศักราช 2569 คณะสงฆ์และนักวิชาการจะร่วมกันถกแถลงในเชิงลึกแบ่งออกเป็น 4 หัวข้อสำคัญ อันประกอบด้วย การประยุกต์ใช้พุทธปัญญาเพื่อความผาสุกของประชาชน, บทบาทของพระพุทธศาสนาในการส่งเสริมความเจริญรุ่งเรืองร่วมกัน, การปฏิบัติทางพระพุทธศาสนาในการส่งเสริมระบบนิเวศสีเขียว และพุทธปัญญาในการสร้างความร่วมมือเพื่อสันติภาพอย่างยั่งยืน
จากนั้นในพิธีปิดจะมีการร่วมกันประกาศปฏิญญาร่วมอู๋ซี และประกอบพิธีจุดประทีปเทียนอธิษฐานจิตเวียนเทียนรอบพระพุทธรูปองค์ประธาน เพื่อบูชาคุณพระรัตนตรัยและแผ่เมตตาจิตให้แก่ชาวโลก ก่อนที่คณะผู้นำชาวพุทธทั้งหมดมีกำหนดการจะเดินทางมาปฏิบัติศาสนกิจร่วมประชุมใหญ่สืบต่อ ณ ศูนย์ประชุมสหประชาชาติ ถนนราชดำเนินนอก กรุงเทพมหานคร ประเทศไทย ในวันที่ 29 พฤษภาคม พุทธศักราช 2569 เป็นลำดับสืบไป
การสมานฉันท์ระหว่างพุทธบริษัททั้งฝ่ายเถรวาทและมหายานบนแผ่นดินจีนครั้งนี้ ถือเป็น สังฆสามัคคี ครั้งประวัติศาสตร์อันจะนำมาซึ่งอานิสงส์อันใหญ่หลวง ยืนยันว่าคุณค่าแห่งพระปริยัติธรรมและข้อวัตรปฏิบัติในทางพระพุทธศาสนานั้น สามารถนำมาขัดเกลาและแก้ไขวิกฤตการณ์ทางโลกได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม

Under the Radiant Canopy of the Buddhist Realm: The Global Sangha Unites in Wuxi to Light the Torch of ‘Buddhist Wisdom’ for Enduring Peace
The advent of the Lord Buddha in this world is deemed a supreme and auspicious omen that brought forth the light of wisdom for liberation from the mass of suffering. Particularly upon the arrival of the auspicious and meritorious occasion of Vesak Day—an international day of the world—the faith of the fourfold Buddhist assembly from every corner of the globe merges into a unified whole to sustain the longevity of Buddhism, and to adopt the sacred Dhamma teachings as a compass indicating the path of survival for humanity in the contemporary era.
On Monday, May 26, Buddhist Era 2569 (2026), at Wuxi City, the People’s Republic of China, a highly venerable sight manifested within the international religious sphere, when Phra Prombundit (Prayoon Dhammacitto), Member of the Sangha Supreme Council, in his capacity as the President of the International Council for Day of Vesak, traveled to preside over and fulfill his monastic duties at the official opening ceremony of the 21st United Nations Day of Vesak Celebration, under the profound principal theme: “Buddhist Wisdom in Promoting Global Sustainable Development and Building a Shared Future for Humanity.” The ceremony was attended by a vast gathering of monastics, led by the Most Venerable Yan Jue, President of the Buddhist Association of China, alongside representatives of the Chinese government, supreme patriarchs, Buddhist leaders, and scholars from various nations, all present with utmost decorum and serene monastic conduct.
The auspicious rituals commenced at 8:30 a.m., as the delegation of monks representing both the Theravada and Mahayana traditions collectively performed a chanting ceremony for world peace. The resounding resonance of the protective prayers instilled a profound tranquility within the hearts of all attendees. At 9:00 a.m., the event proceeded to its official opening, where the President of the Buddhist Association of China delivered a warm address of welcome and reception. Following this, the Most Venerable Phra Prombundit delivered an opening address and presented a sharp philosophical perspective on the Dhamma, guiding the assembly to recognize the value of wisdom arising from mental cultivation according to the strict principles of the Dhamma-Vinaya. Concurrently, the hosts presented an exquisitely magnificent showcase of Chinese cultural arts to celebrate the holding of this grand event.
In the afternoon of the same day, a special keynote lecture was delivered on the principal theme of the event, alongside the opening of an academic plenary session to exchange perspectives at the policy level. As for the proceedings on May 27, Buddhist Era 2569 (2026), the monastic community and scholars will collectively deliberate in depth across four vital topics, consisting of: The Application of Buddhist Wisdom for Public Well-being, The Role of Buddhism in Promoting Shared Prosperity, Buddhist Practice in Promoting Green Ecologies, and Buddhist Wisdom in Fostering Cooperation for Sustainable Peace.
Subsequently, during the closing ceremony, there will be a collective declaration of the Joint Wuxi Declaration, followed by a sacred ritual of lighting prayer candles and circumambulating the principal Buddha image, in order to worship the virtues of the Triple Gem and to extend loving-kindness (Metta) to all citizens of the world. Thereafter, the entire delegation of Buddhist leaders is scheduled to travel to fulfill further religious duties and attend the grand assembly at the United Nations Conference Centre on Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue, Bangkok, Thailand, on May 29, Buddhist Era 2569 (2026), respectively.
This harmonious solidarity between the Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist assemblies upon the Chinese soil stands as a historic manifestation of Sangha-samaggi (monastic unity), which shall yield immense and boundless merits, reaffirming that the values of scriptural education (Pariyatti Dhamma) and monastic conduct within Buddhism can tangibly refine and resolve secular crises.
